The Environmental Committee of the Aldershot Community Council has organized a combination bus and walking tour of the Aldershot region. The purpose of this tour is to introduce interested residents of Aldershot to the rich natural legacy of our community. The Aldershot Community Council exists to help citizens to assess the options available to deal with public concerns and to provide a forum where the merits of various options, visions, plans can be discussed at the grass-roots level by public-spirited citizens, the key players in any vital democratic organization. But public consensus leading to good decisions relies on good information and in our area where questions of development or land use are paramount (and complicated), and where most of us citizens deal daily with other concerns and rarely stray from well-established routes, nothing can substitute for a guided tour of the territory.

In other words, turn off the TV, put down the newspaper, grab a jacket and a thermos of coffee and spend half a day taking first-hand, good look at the land you inhabit in the company of people who make it their business to know it intimately.
