Delightful short stories about young people trying to assert their independence, demonstrating their self-confidence, making choices and decisions. The situations are similar to those faced by young people today as they worry, scheme and plan for the future.

| What I Liked | I liked the story "The Chicken Lady" because it is about a boy and a girl who wanted to save a part of their field but their father wanted to sell it. Then they found a wolf and when the wolf left they saw their father talking to a man. They thought he had sold the land. Later they find out he didn't. |
|
What I Felt About the Main Character |
I am like the girl in the book. I am caring and if my dad said that we were going to sell a part of our land I would be very mad. |
| The Novel was | true to life |
| I Chose This Word | I picked true to life because this happens in the country often. |

| What I Liked | My favourite story in this book was the one when the little boy's parents were going away and the little boy had to stay with his neighbors. I liked the way that the boy was prepared to do things on the weekends because he didn't like his neighbors. |
|
What I Felt About the Main Character |
I am going to comment on the boy in the story I wrote about above. I felt that the boy was very lonely and since his parents went away he still had something to do. I liked the way that he was able to get in his house and help out. |
| The Novel was | humorous |
| I Chose This Word | I choose humorous because in some parts it was a little humorous, like when the boy was saying good-bye and hello to his parents. |
| The Author might change | The author could give a little more detail to each story and the author could explain things a little more clearly. |
|
New Information I Learned |
There is nothing that I learned from this story. |

| What I Liked | I liked the first short story because the young girl was determind to keep her 40 acres. She wanted to prove to her parents that so many living things spend their lives there. |
|
What I Felt About the Main Character |
I liked the main character in the story about the boy whose parents left him at their neighbours' house. The reason I liked him was because he tried to keep himself occupied. |

What I Felt About the Main Character |
I feel that all the charters had their ups and downs but I liked them all. |
| The Novel was | true to life |
| I Chose This Word | I think this story is true to life because it could happen. The creek could get salmon in it and Kwon could learn English. |
| The Author might change | There isn't anything that I want to change |
|
New Information I Learned |
I didn't know that kids could do a lot of amazing things. |
