What I Liked	I liked the part when Karen dresses up as Santa Lucia and she fell and the candles blew out in the snow. I liked it because I was happy that she had the courage to do something that she hadn't done in a long time.

What I Liked	I really enjoyed the part when Karin ventured forth into the vast storm to find her father and she wouldn't give up. That shows the love of a daughter struggling to save the only parent that she has.
What I Felt About the Main Character	Karin was the main character in this story. I really liked her because she had a strong will and never gave up. She fought for what she wanted and never gave up on telling people what she really meant.

I Chose This Word	This book was suspenseful because you never knew what was going to happen next. The adventures were continuous with a lot of truth about how a child might feel after losing a parent to an avalanche.

What I Liked	The best part of the story was when the avalanche fell and everyone was fleeing to safety but only some of the people survived. I liked this part because there was a lot of action and adventure that had me off my seat and even some of the time it was pretty sad and I almost felt like I would cry. I enjoyed this book thoroughly.
What I Felt About the Main Character	My favourite character is Karin because I felt so sorry for her. Her Mom died and she only had her Papa to be with. There were no brothers or sisters in her family so she grew up alone. She had to go through an avalanche at the age of 12. I would be scared if I could forecast an avalanche through a small stone.
The Novel was	a tear-jerker
I Chose This Word	This was a tear-jerker. It made me cry because of how her Papa's railroad crew died in different ways and he was saved. I cried for all the wives and children when they found out their husbands and fathers had died.
The Author might change	No, I don't think there is anything I would change with this book. I usually hate reading books that are tear-jerkers but I didn't have a problem with this story. I loved it!

What I Liked	I liked Goldstone because of the way it touched my emotions and made me feel like the story was finished at the end . It had great language in it. Some of the words were hard to understand for me. Even though they were hard for me to understand I just couldn't put the book down. I read Goldstone every spare minute I had!
What I Felt About the Main Character	My favourite character was Julie. I liked her because of her strong - willed personality. She wore the Goldstone and went to stop her father and I admire her for that.
The Novel was	a tear-jerker
I Chose This Word	I think it was half suspenseful and half a tear-jerker. It was mostly a tear-jerker because when she found out there was going to be an avalanche on Avalanche Peak and she went to save her father I thought her father was going to die and I almost cried. I did cry at the end.

What I Liked	I liked when Stuart saved Karin from the avalanche. That showed that he really cared about her.
What I Felt About the Main Character	After Karin's mother died she became a bit stubborn, No matter how hard Stuart tried to get her to do something she just wouldn't do it! Well I guess I understand why she was a bit stubborn but she shouldn't have been so mean to Stuart. It wasn't his fault.
The Novel was	true to life
I Chose This Word	I think Goldstone is a TRUE TO LIFE story because of avalanches.It could happen to anyone. Also it wasn't fictional. She wasn't flying or any ghost attacking her.
The Author might change	I think at the end of the book Stuart and Karin should become boyfriend and girlfriend because they cared alot about each other any way.

What I Liked	I liked the part when Lydia came off the train. It was funny when all the boys crowded around her. She was there because she wanted to come to Canada to learn English. Karin had to teach her. They couldn't find her mother in the avalanche and her mother was supposed to teach her so Karin did.
What I Felt About the Main Character	I felt so bad for Karin when her mother died. I could feel her pain and how she felt with only her father around her.

What I Liked	I think That Goldstone is a heart warming novel. The setting and the people were very interesting to read about. My favourite parts are the day when Karin put on her mama's Swedish gown and the part when she was describing her dreams on the goldstone. I also like the suspense in this novel like when she hears about the avalanche. I think that everyone should read this book.
What I Felt About the Main Character	Karin was a very responsible person who knew how to take care of her self and she had high beliefs.
