What's Involved?
Classes have become "cyber-partners" with classmates in other countries. We are collecting, sharing and comparing data of different geographical locations on one day during Earth Week.
During Earth Week (April 20 to 24...the actual date for Earth Day is April 22) each grade 2 class will go on a morning observation walk for 30 minutes.
We will keep a tally of things we see such as:
number of mammals, birds, insects, reptiles.
We will report on the kinds of flowers in bloom etc.
We will record whether trees have leaves, buds, blossoms, no leaves.
Also for schools that may have unique vegetation (cactus plants etc) we will look forward to their comments
We will encourage schools to describe other "sightings" such as frozen ponds, ice flows, eroded cliffs, sun-dried creeks, etc.
Short description of the weather...snowy, windy etc.
We will record the temperature.
