What I Liked I liked the part when Rennie bakes the breadsticks even though she knows that some people won't probably buy them from her because the people are against the Italians.

What I Liked I liked the part when the girl in the story was so determined to raise money to help her family get through without her father. I liked that part because her father wanted her to learn to make bread but she said it was men's work but when her father was taken away she was so determined that she made bread to sell for the money to help her family.
What I Felt
About the Main
Character
My favourite character was the girl whose father got taken away because he was Italian. She was very determined to help her family. I admire her the most because even though she lied to her friend about finding her bracelet in her pocket (she did not steal it) she still told the truth after!
The Novel was true to life
I Chose This Word It wasn't exactly true to life, but there were lots of facts that were true. I have to say that it was half true to life, a quarter suspenseful and a quarter tear-jerker. I liked this book because of this. It really touched me.
The Author might change There is nothing I think the author should change.
New Information
I Learned
I learned about the war where all the Italians were taken somewhere because people thought that they might turn on the Canadians.
