Hungry for a Feast
Frowning, the family has no food.
Eager and waiting to eat.
And, should a family share on this holiday
Shall they starve on Christmas?
The family sits hoping others will share.

Player
Passing the puck you watch the
Lazy teammate getting caught up by the opposing defender.
Alertly, you skate and take away the black rubber disk
You are now on a breakaway ready to shoot...
Extended, the goalie's arms reach towards
the projectile with no hope
ROAR!!! the crowd and your body are filled with greatness.

Golf
Getting out my one wood, I think of my shot
On the upcoming par 5. As I step up to the tee block, cleats sink
into the dew wet turf.
Lining up the shot, thoughts are left behind.Waiting, waiting, waiting...
my adrenalin builds.
Finally ready. Sweaty fists clenching a perfect back swing
and a follow through
sends the ball
soaring through the air.

Dinosaurs
Dreadful, roaring, roaming creatures.
In search of food, carnivores.
Nowhere to hide.
Or possibly outrun to.
Some were horrible, others were scary
Average weight: 2000 lbs.
Unusual beasts of the past.
Rampaging around the volcanoes.
Structures who once roamed the earth.

Kitten
Kind, soft, cuddly
Independent
Thinking
Timid
Extraordinary
Now let's play!

Hamsters
Happily munching, crunching sunflower seeds and corn
Adorable soft fluffy ball when playing or resting
Mostly disappearing into a nest of twisted wood shavings
Staring at you with black eyes and yawning
Timidly waddling around and exploring large cages
Enveloped in metal prisons
Racing to the freedom of their wheel
Scooping hands, reminders of captivity.
"Next time," they whisper.

Ewok
Explore on the planet of Ewok.
Watch miniature Munchkins in grubby clothing
Out to follow
Kambu, the ancient leader of the Ewoks.

by Robin (Grade 5)

Orcas
Orbiting around the prey
Raising a tail and slapping the water
Cautiously it surprises the prey and races to the throat
A single bite kills.
Surely this kill will satisfy the predator.
