What could a young boy from a respectable family have in common with an angry old man who lives on the streets? A friendship and respect for each other that results in a surprising conclusion. This is a novel about prejudice that proves that there is more to a person than meets the eye.

I really felt sad for Luther especialy when I found out that Luther's family had died. |
| The Novel was | true to life |
| I Chose This Word | It is true that in life sometimes things happen that you can't explain. I really felt sorry for Luther. It's true that in some places people are homeless. They feel in their hearts that they deserve it. They feel guilty themselves. |

| What I Liked | I like the parts when Luther gives Nick the present and when Luther and Nick get along. This book is sort of like me. The only part different is I have a Dad and I didn't runaway. You see my Mom bakes cookies when she comes from work and she also makes dinner for me and my dad and my brother and my sister. |

What I Felt About the Main Character |
Nick was my favourite character. I liked him especially because he had his own role. |
| The Novel was | true to life |

|
What I Felt About the Main Character |
I felt sorry for the old man named Luther because he didn't have a family, he had socks with holes, no food to eat and no clothes. He was all dirty with tangled up hair. I also felt sorry for Nick. |
| The Novel was | true to life |
| I Chose This Word | You can see that runaways are young, teenagers and adults, too. I think this book was something similar to true life. |

| What I Liked | I really enjoyed the part when Nick found out who Luther really was and the true reason of Luther becoming a street person. People on the street are just as smart as anyone and just because somone doesn't have a permanent home doesn't mean you are not educated. You may have been as successful as any working man or woman. |
|
What I Felt About the Main Character |
Luther was my favourite character in this book. He had many years when he kept his feelings and memories locked inside himself. People didn't realize what had happened to him. He never told anyone what his feelings were and why he had ended up on the streets. Even when Nick came along and he trusted him, Luther still wouldn't tell a soul. I liked Luther because he had a hard life but he never gave up! |
| The Novel was | true to life |
| I Chose This Word | I picked true to life because people don't realize how street people end up on the streets and their life stories. |
| The Author might change | I really enjoyed this book and I know a lot of other people do to. I think that this book is perfect the way it is. |
|
New Information I Learned |
I really found it interesting the way that Nick found out who street people really are. |

|
What I Felt About the Main Character |
I felt that Nick liked solving mysteries. Nick kept on trying at whatever he was doing. |
| The Novel was | scary |
| I Chose This Word | I think it was scary because Luther never really wanted to talk to Nick. He usually just said a few words, then wanted Nick to talk or Nick to leave. |
| The Author might change | The author could change the book by making it a little more suspenseful. |
|
New Information I Learned |
I didn't learn anything new. |
