The grade 5 students in Mr. N's class became clever Egyptologists last term. They worked hard to decipher the secrets of the ancient Egyptians. Now, they invite you to share their learning through pictures of their projects and through verse.

I met an archeologist

Whose friend is an Egyptologist

She digs up the past

And puts it in a cast.

They spoke of many marvellous things

Some about tombs and some about kings

They told me about the River Nile

And how it flows for many a mile.

That the Nile's soil is very rich

and found in every farmer's ditch

That papyrus grows plenty along the Nile

Ancient Egyptians gathered it in a pile.

Someday, I'd love to see papyrus

who knows, maybe even meet Osiris.

The Egyptian gods were well respected

And in their afterlife,

rewards were expected

Both scientists spoke proudly

of this

civilization

That practised religiously,

mummification.

The city of Giza has tons of sand

Pick it up, sift it through your hand.

And if it's pyramids

you want to see

Giza

is the place to be.

Be warned if you committed a crime

For you would be tortured over time.

And I listened intently,

and I imagined gladly

How it might have been

In those ancient times
