Our Sawmill Valley library is bubbling with activity. Staff and students are working together to develop a natural vivarium to learn about ecosystems firsthand. The large glass tank (188cm x 61cm x 61cm) now contains two rushing waterfalls in opposite corners. A river meanders from one waterfall through a soil marsh area and empties into a small pond.
There are hydroponic plants, air plants, nursing logs, fire-bellied toads, crickets, fire-bellied newts, mealworms, albino mystery snails and anoles. Our latest addition is a very unusual looking albino claw frog who spends his time hiding in the water among the rocks.
